В процессе бурения утяжеленные бурильные трубы представляют собой переход от гибкой бурильной трубы к жесткой утяжеленной бурильной трубе. В горизонтальных скважинах и скважинах с большим отходом от вертикали часто заменяют утяжеленные бурильные трубы для уменьшения трения.

Spiral Heavy Weight Drill Pipe
Heavy Weight Drill Pipe
Heavy weight drill pipe is the tool used as a transition between the normal drill pipe and the heavier drill collars. In some applications, heavy-weight drill pipe may also be used in place of the drill collar. The performance standard for heavy weight drill pipe is API Spec 7-1.
Применяются для создания необходимой нагрузки на породоразрушающий инструмент, а так же для увеличения жесткости нижней части бурильной колонны. С применением УБТ улучшаются условия работы бурильных труб, снижается возможность их обрыва, кроме того, утяжеленные бурильные трубы способствуют сохранению заданного направления скважины.
